Claude Desktop
Add OnyxMetric as a custom connector in the Claude Desktop app for macOS and Windows, step by step with screenshots
Claude Desktop uses the same connectors as claude.ai. If you already added OnyxMetric in the browser, skip to step 5.

Claude's interface changes often. Labels and layout may differ slightly from what you see; the steps stay the same.
1. Open Connectors settings
Open Settings with Cmd + , (macOS) or Ctrl + , (Windows), or click your name in the bottom-left corner and choose Settings. Open Connectors and click Add custom connector.

2. Enter the OnyxMetric URL
-
Name:
OnyxMetric -
Remote MCP server URL:
https://app.onyxmetric.com/api/mcp
Leave Advanced settings empty and click Add.

3. Approve access in your browser
Click Connect. Claude Desktop opens your default browser on OnyxMetric. Log in if asked and click Allow access.

If the browser asks whether to open Claude, allow it — that hands the connection back to the app.
4. Confirm it's connected
Back in Claude Desktop, OnyxMetric is listed as Connected.

5. Turn it on in a chat
In a new chat, open the tools menu in the message box and make sure OnyxMetric is on.

6. Ask a question
List my OnyxMetric sites and summarize last month's traffic for the main one.
Approve the tool call when Claude asks, and it answers with your data:

Troubleshooting
- Nothing happens after Allow access: the browser blocked the hand-off to the app. Return to Claude Desktop — the connector usually shows Connected anyway. If not, click Connect again.
- You use a local
claude_desktop_config.jsonserver instead: you don't need one. The custom connector above is the supported way to reach OnyxMetric's hosted endpoint.
