Browser (claude.ai)
Add OnyxMetric as a custom connector on claude.ai, step by step with screenshots
This guide uses claude.ai in a desktop browser. Once the connector is added, it also shows up in Claude Desktop and the mobile apps automatically.

Claude's interface changes often. Labels and layout may differ slightly from what you see; the steps stay the same.
1. Open Connectors settings
On claude.ai, click your name in the bottom-left corner, choose Settings, then open Connectors. Click Add custom connector.

2. Enter the OnyxMetric URL
Fill in the dialog:
-
Name:
OnyxMetric -
Remote MCP server URL:
https://app.onyxmetric.com/api/mcp
Leave Advanced settings empty — OnyxMetric registers Claude as an OAuth client automatically. Click Add.

3. Approve access in OnyxMetric
Click Connect next to the new connector. A tab opens on OnyxMetric. Log in if asked, check the request, and click Allow access.

The consent screen shows where you will be sent next (claude.ai) and the account you are approving with. Claude gets the same access your user has — no more.
4. Confirm it's connected
You land back in Claude's Connectors settings. OnyxMetric is listed as Connected.

5. Turn it on in a chat
Start a new chat and open the tools menu in the message box. Make sure OnyxMetric is switched on.

6. Ask a question
Try:
List my OnyxMetric sites and summarize last month's traffic for the main one.
The first time Claude uses an OnyxMetric tool, it asks for permission. Choose Always allow for read-only tools you trust, or Allow once to review each call.

Claude calls the tools it needs and answers with your data:

Destructive tools (deleting goals, funnels, sites) are marked so Claude always asks before running them.
Disconnect
Go back to Settings → Connectors, open OnyxMetric, and choose Disconnect or Remove. Claude stops calling OnyxMetric right away.
Troubleshooting
- The OnyxMetric tab didn't open: allow pop-ups for claude.ai and click Connect again.
- "Insufficient role" in an answer: your OnyxMetric user lacks the role that tool needs. See Permissions and roles.
- OnyxMetric is missing from the tools menu: check it says Connected in settings, then start a new chat.
More fixes are in the MCP troubleshooting section.
