Circle
Add OnyxMetric analytics to your Circle community
Circle has a Code snippets setting that injects custom code into the <head> of every page in your community. Add the tag there once and it covers public pages and logged-in member pages alike.
Copy your tracking snippet
In OnyxMetric, open your site's Site Settings and copy the tracking script. It looks like this:
<script src="https://app.onyxmetric.com/api/script.js?siteId=YOUR_SITE_ID" async></script>YOUR_SITE_ID is the numeric ID of your site.
Add the snippet to Circle
Custom CSS and JavaScript snippets are included on all current Circle plans.
- Open your community as an admin and go to Settings.
- Open Code snippets.
- Paste the snippet into Head code snippets.
- Click Save. Changes apply to the whole community immediately, with no publish step.
Circle is a single-page app. After the first load, moving between spaces, posts, and courses changes the URL without a full reload, and the script tracks those route changes automatically.
Check that it works
Load your live site and click through a few pages. Pageviews show up in the OnyxMetric dashboard within seconds.
If nothing arrives:
- View the page source and search for
script.js?siteId=to confirm the tag is present. - In the browser's Network tab, check that
script.jsreturns200and that requests go to/api/track. - Turn off ad blockers, or proxy the script through your own domain.
- Read script troubleshooting for other causes.
Troubleshooting
- Custom domain: the same head code is served on
yourcommunity.circle.soand on your custom domain. If both hostnames are in use, keep them under one OnyxMetric site so sessions are not split. - Post embeds: custom HTML inside a post applies to that post only. Put the snippet in head code snippets, not in a post.
- Nothing tracked while logged in as admin: Circle applies head code to admins too. Check that your own IP or user is not excluded in your site settings before assuming the tag is missing.
Next steps
- Track custom events such as signups, purchases, and clicks.
- Identify users to tie sessions to accounts.
- Proxy the script through your own domain to get past ad blockers.
- Script attributes let you skip or mask URLs and tag events.
