Integration Guides
Thinkific
Add OnyxMetric analytics to your Thinkific site
Thinkific adds custom scripts through the Site Footer Code field under Settings > Code & Analytics. The code runs at the bottom of every page, including the Course Player, and editing it needs a paid plan.
Copy your tracking snippet
In OnyxMetric, open your site's Site Settings and copy the tracking script. It looks like this:
<script src="https://app.onyxmetric.com/api/script.js?siteId=YOUR_SITE_ID" async></script>YOUR_SITE_ID is the numeric ID of your site.
Add the snippet to Thinkific
- In the admin dashboard, go to Settings and open the Code & Analytics tab.
- Paste the snippet into Site Footer Code.
- Save.
Lesson changes inside the Course Player happen client-side, and the script follows the URL changes on its own.
Check that it works
Load your live site and click through a few pages. Pageviews show up in the OnyxMetric dashboard within seconds.
If nothing arrives:
- View the page source and search for
script.js?siteId=to confirm the tag is present. - In the browser's Network tab, check that
script.jsreturns200and that requests go to/api/track. - Turn off ad blockers, or proxy the script through your own domain.
- Read script troubleshooting for other causes.
Troubleshooting
- Field is read-only or missing: editing Site Footer Code needs Basic or higher.
- Checkout not tracked: Site Footer Code does not run on Performance Checkout pages, so purchases complete outside OnyxMetric's view. Track enrollment from the first page a student lands on afterwards.
- Community pages not tracked: pages where students post and comment, and direct-messaging pages, are excluded from Site Footer Code by default.
- Per-page footer code: individual pages accept footer code too. Keep the site-wide field as the only copy so pages are not tracked twice.
Next steps
- Track custom events such as signups, purchases, and clicks.
- Identify users to tie sessions to accounts.
- Proxy the script through your own domain to get past ad blockers.
- Script attributes let you skip or mask URLs and tag events.
